Hello Watch D.O.G.S.!

Thank you for your interest in this nation-wide program!  Kokanee Elementary has partnered with Watch DOGS (Dads of Great Students), as we recognize the impact of having positive role models who are dads, stepdads, uncles, grandpas, and/or mentors show up to the school, to interact with kids of all grade levels, not just their own student(s).  Studies show that kids not only benefit personally from this time with Watch DOGS, but having a Watch DOG on campus can reduce bullying and helps enhance a sense of security on school grounds.

To be a Watch DOG at Kokanee, you must first complete a Level 1 background check through Northshore School District (NSD).  The link is below.

Your next step is to go to the SignUp page, (link below), to choose a day or days you want to come.  If you are not able to commit a full day, that is fine!  Simply email watchdogs@kokaneepta.com and give the date and exact times you will arrive and depart, so your schedule is tailored specifically to your time commitment.  We welcome Watch DOGS for a full day, or even just for recess, if that is more appealing to you!

The Watch DOGS at Kokanee interact with kids of all grade levels in the classroom, at recess, and sometimes in music class or PE.  Kokanee Elementary also appreciates Watch DOGS helping greet students in the morning and saying goodbye to the kids at afternoon dismissal.

Sarah Kosenski, Kokanee parent, is the coordinator of this program, and will create a schedule that include time with your student(s), as well as classroom/recess/PE time with kids of other grade levels, as the purpose of this program is to be a positive role model to all kids.   To learn more about the National Watch D.O.G.S. program, click on the final link below.

When you sign up, be sure to include who your student(s) is/are, as well as their teacher(s) for the 2022-2023 school year, so the schedule can include time with them.  Thanks and we look forward to having you as a Watch DOG!
